City of Miami and SIR International Company to Celebrate America Recycles Day
-Consumers can dispose of their e-waste at no charge -

(Miami, Florida)- The City of Miami and SIR International Company invite residents to celebrate America Recycles Day (ARD) on Saturday, November 15, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Drop off locations will be set up throughout the City to encourage residents to properly dispose of e-waste items while helping reduce their carbon footprint. This event is being held to further Mayor Manny Diaz’s pro-active environmental agenda for the City of Miami and will provide city residents with a method to recycle electronic goods in a convenient manner.

Electronic items that can be collected at the drop off locations include: Computers, laptops, printers, scanners, copiers, fax machines, ink and toner cartridges, keyboards, mice, wire or cables, phones and related equipment, TVs, VCRs & DVD players, projectors and screens, handheld devices, modems, routers, batteries, cameras, unbroken light bulbs, microwaves, refrigerators and stoves. Residents are advised that household chemicals, such as paint or fertilizers will not be collected at the e-waste locations.

Little Haiti NET Office - 6421 NE 2nd Avenue
Little Havana NET Office – 1275 NW First Street
Grapeland Park – 1550 NW 37th Avenue
Curtis Park – 1901 NW 24th Avenue
Shenandoah Park – 1800 SW 21st Avenue

America Recycles Day (ARD), November 15, is the only nationally recognized day dedicated to encouraging Americans to recycle and to buy recycled products. Each year, millions of people become better informed about the importance of daily recycling and buying recycled products. America Recycles Day aims to continue to promote the social, environmental and economic benefits of recycling and encourage more people to join the movement toward creating a better natural environment.
